Hong Kong | 香港
Day 20 | 第二十天
From Guilin, we rode a high speed train to Hong Kong and stayed near the airport. Many of us were flying the next day. I did not spend time in any of the neighborhoods of Hong Kong on this visit, but even from the outskirts, it felt familiar to be there.
We had been traveling in China for close to three weeks and had lost track of larger events. On that final day, a few hours before my return flight, I turned on the local news and was surprised to see a broadcast of the U.S. Congress in session. The session involved this legislation, punctuating a unique historical moment. ■
